     Elevation: (in thousands feet)

    High elevation means longer and colder winters, and comparatively lower night

   temperatures all through the year. Frost sensitive plants in most latitudes will be

   in the lower elevations. Only the hardiest plants will be in the higher elevations.

     For every thousand feet in higher elevation, the climatic/botanical change is

   equivalent to approximately 90 miles north latitude.
