Pacific West Botanicals From Planting Instructions: under Pests and Diseases Root Weevils More than a dozen different kinds in Western Washington, Oregon and Northern California emerge in spring thru fall. Flightless gray or black adult weevils eat notches of plants. Late summer they lay eggs on soil or in folds of leaves. Eggs hatch into larvae with pinkish or whitish bodies and tan heads, burrow in soil and eat roots especially strawberry. To control adult weevils which feed only at night on nonedible plants, or use parasitic nematodes on larvae. |
