Mites


  
    Mites look like specks of red, yellow, green  ( little spiders with eight legs ).

      Especially troublesome in the interior regions.  Among the top 10 pests thru-out

  the west.  First and sometimes only sign of mites is yellow stippled leaves.

     Hold white paper beneath leaf, sharply rap stem, mites will fall on the paper.

     Also fine webbing across leaves especially undersides and around stems.

    Small plants use jets of water and or with insecticidal soap.   Repeat to lessen

  mite population.   Many natural predators ikeep mites in check.  They are:

     Lacewing larvae, and five different species of predatory mites.  They are bred

  and sold by biological control companies.  Also you could try light grade

  horticultural oils or sulfur.
