Pacific West Botanicals From Planting Instructions: under Pests and Diseases Geranium Budworms Geranium ( Tobacco ) Budworms, Cornworms larvae of dull-colored, stout-bodied, night-flying moths. The moths refrain from mating and laying eggs during the full moon. Bright light seems to distract them. But right after full moon, they start mating at an increased rate. By new moon, there are numerous larvae, and bigger populations in each cycle. They live thru winter as a pupa in the soil. Late April or May a mature gray moth emerges and lays eggs on buds. One egg per bud. Hatches into one very small worm - same color as the plant. Can use Bacillus thuringiensis - repeat weekly. |
