They feed at night and on overcast days. And most can cut off your plants at the ground. They hide in the ground curled up during the day. Put barrier around each seedling ( cut off milk carton sleeve with 1" below soil level, 2" above, 1" between sleeve and plant or add petroleum jelly or stick ant barrier along upper edge. Or handpick at night. Or lay boards or heavy paper, - pick up during day and remove cutworms. Or flood ground for 5 - 10 minutes - - cutworms will come up. Or for young cutworms use Bacillus thuringiensis. |
